The exhibition

With these fifteen portraits of cyclodriver from Kisumu City, Kenya, we want to inform the public, not a folkloric aspect of life of African cities, but give account of the need we have to look to Africa and to support Africa in his otherness. The eye of the photographer, from the bottom upwards, gives prominence to his and our need to learn what Africa has to teach us.

The photos are the completion of work carried out by the photographer, BernarDino Venanzi, the social worker in Nairobi Hilary O. Odhiambo and 42 boda boda of Kisumu. The photographs, in fact, were taken only after a dialogue that has allowed positive interaction between different professional actors, with the result of mutual empowerment. Testimony are portraits where the eyes proud and powerful of the photographer, social worker and boda boda is joining. The photo titles are quotes from Afro-Americans: intellectuals, artists, politicians, who fought for the rights and have proudly claimed their being blacks.
